The Lady Raiders captured their 4th conference title in 5 years by defeating Charlotte, 55-25. Portland once again used their stifling defense to control the game by forcing Charlotte into 30 turnovers. The defense was led by Lilly Thelen who finished with 10 steals, while Ella Gruber and Bella Spitzley were also active defensively with 3 steals a piece. Lilly Thelen led all scorers and stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Malia Thelen chipped in 9 points and 5 assists, and Summer Stopczynski finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Alexa Weber had a great game on the boards as she finished with 6 rebounds. Portland is now 17-1 and finishes 11-1 in conference play.
The Raider JV girls basketball team improved to 12-3 on the season with a thrilling 35-33 victory over Mason Wednesday night. It was a great team defensive effort to keep the previously undefeated Bulldogs in check. Leigha Roberson led in scoring with 17 points to go with 10 rebounds. Rylee Miller contributed with 5 points including a timely three pointer as the Bulldogs were making their push. Willa Almy and Allie Sutberty each finished with 3 points and did an outstanding effort handling the Mason pressure. Sutberry added 5 rebounds and 2 assists and Almy added 4 rebounds and an assist in the win. Alexis Hengesbach and Lyla Gruber battled inside all night and came away with 2 points and 6 rebounds each. Next up the JV Girls travel to St. Johns Tuesday night for a matchup with the Redwings
