Portland Girls Soccer has reached the halfway point of their season with a 5-5 record and 3-0 record in the CAAC White Division.  The Raiders are very young team this year with a roster size of only 20 players, 9 of whom are freshmen.  After dropping their first two games they have picked up pace.   They have put up impressive wins so far defeating Charlotte 4-1, Lakewood 6-0 and  local rival Ionia 4-0.

The Raiders defensive has been anchored by senior captains Maya Estell and Sarah Halfmann.  In goal Norah Wagner has earned 4 shutouts for the team and has only allowed one goal in league play. 

The Raiders offensive is very young and has been powered by a mixture of lower classmen and Junior caption Malia Thelen.  Freshmen Raina Spitzley leads the team with 10 goals so for this season.  Junior Malia Thelen has 5 goals and Sophomore Lexie Huhn has tallied 3 goals for the Raiders.   

Girls Varsity Soccer will continue play Monday 01 May at 5:30pm home against Eaton Rapids.  A win for the Raiders will secure their second straight CAAC White title
