Portland Girls Varsity Soccer reaches the halfway point of the regular season with an impressive 5-2-2 record and 3-0 in the CAAC White Division. Battling the cold and rain they have been able to get in all of their scheduled games. So far this season the Raiders have out-scored their opponents 30-6 and accumulated 5 shutouts. One of their biggest wins came in their season home opener defeating Lansing Catholic 3-1. They played a close game until the Raiders put away two goals in the second half to secure the win.
The ladies have played some tough competition so far this season. They traveled to the Williamston D3 showcase last weekend where they played two of the top teams in Division 3 (Williamston and Big Rapids). They ended the day with a 0-1-2 record. They will wrap up conference play this coming Tuesday where they can secure the CAAC White Division title with a win over Eaton Rapids.
Ashley Bower leads the team with 14 goals. Other leading scorers for the Raiders are Maddie Luxmore (5 goals) Molly Johnson and Logan Wezensky (3 goals). Katelyn Stanton has 5 shutouts in goal and averages less than one goal against per game.
