With what seemed to finally be weather more like spring sports season should experience, the Portland Girls Varsity Tennis team traveled to Ionia Thursday. Taking on a young, but determined, Ionia squad, the Raiders came out victorious, winning all 8 flights. Adding a well-earned win to all their records were 1 singles - Alyssa Jack, 2 singles - Adriana Krieger, 3 singles - Keegan Rockey, 4 singles - CeCe Little, 1 doubles - Kara Kraczon/Bella Virk, 2 doubles - Elizabeth Seavey/Ally Logel, 3 doubles - Bryanna Hengesbach/Sadie Carey, and 4 doubles - Adriana Adler/Brooklynn Heinicke.
On Friday, Portland Girls Tennis hosted Grand Rapids West Catholic. The numerous returners from the Falcon's 2021 6th place state finishing team helped them to earn a 5-3 win over the Raiders. While a tie would have been a great finish, Portland's young team couldn't quite get a few more ball bounces in their favor. Winning matches for Portland were 1 singles Alyssa Jack, 2 singles Adriana Krieger, and 2 doubles Elizabeth Seavey/Ally Logel.
Special thanks to our Middle School team for coming to cheer on the Lady Raiders at the match! We hope they enjoyed the match!
Our next match is Monday when we host East Lansing.
