The Portland girls basketball team finished off a memorable week by beating the Charlotte Orioles, 53-32. Earlier in the week the Raiders beat Division 1 #8 East Lansing and Division 1 Honorable Mention, Haslett. Portland got off to a slow start against the Orioles leading by only 6 at halftime, but a 22 point 3rd quarter highlighted by five straight 3 point baskets, pushed the Raider lead to 21 points after the 3rd quarter. Portland was led by the strong overall performances of both Ava Guilford and Alivia Densmore. Guilford had 12 points, 6 rebounds,5 assists and Densmore finished with 8 points, 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Portland also had other strong contributions from Ashley Bower with 14 points and 4 three point makes, Malia Thelen 10 points and was 3-3 from behind the arch, and Breckyn Werner with 6 points and 5 rebounds. The Raiders are now 10-1 and have big matchups at home this week with Lowell on Tuesday night and Ionia on Friday night.
