On Wednesday night the Raider Wrestlers took on Eaton Rapids to establish the champion of the CAAC White League. The Raiders were victorious winning 10 of the 14 matches with 9 being by pin or forfeit. This establishes them as the Back-to-Back League Champions for the first time in over 30 years!
"This group is a special one, they are willing to work hard, be coachable and sacrifice for the greater good of the team. We have individuals who are learning and enjoying the process, which is what we preach everyday."
After this victory, the Raiders took on a tough Williamston squad, currently ranked #8 in the state in Division 3. The action had many tense lead changes, resulting in a 38-35 score with your Raiders again victorious on the night. "This dual came down to our individuals digging deep and doing the small things. We had guys working hard to save or earn team points and against teams like Williamston, that's tough and important." Guys like Drew Miller getting an escape in the last seconds or Jackson Weygandt battling for 6 minutes to not get pinned saves team points. Guys like Connor Gleason or Trenton Trierweiler finding a way to get a pin in their matches to earn bonus points. But this one rested on the shoulders of freshman Isaac Kramer filling a spot for a sick teammate; scoring first and often and having it in his head he was going to battle until the final whistle. That he did, securing a win and the final 3 team points to establish the winning score.
