The Portland Raider freshman football team chalked up another big win in the fog and rain Thursday night, beating the Waverly warriors, 53-6.  It was all Portland from the start, to the finish, although Waverly kept fighting and got on the scoreboard with just minutes left in the game. Offensive standouts included:  Evan Gross for his 3 quarterback sneak touchdowns. Gross also added a 4th TD on a quarterback keeper. Evan Simon, Mason McGregor, Cade Lockwood, and Keaton McGregor all added rushing touchdowns for the Raider offense, as well.
The Raider defense was on-point too against the Warriors. Highlights on that side of the ball for the Raiders included: Quarterback sacks by Evan Simon, Barrett Spitzley, Keaton McGregor, Jacob Weller, and Barrett Brennan. Keaton McGregor and Issac Kramer added interceptions and Evan Thelen also pounced on a Warrior fumble in the muddy contest. It should be added that both the Raider Offensive and Defensive Line's played exceptionally well in this game, and were simply too much for the Warriors to handle 'down in the trenches'. The Editor's 'Hard-Hit-Heroes' this week for Portland were Tyler Smith (who returned from the injury list this week), and Trenton "T-Bone" Durrant. The Raider freshman improved to 5-1 on the season.
