Freshmen Football Improves to 4-1

The Portland Raiders FRESHMAN football team won 23-8 against Grand Ledge on Thursday night. Grand Ledge scored in the first possession and took an 8-0 lead.  Barrett Brennan fired back immediately with a 50-yard return on the kickoff. Evan gross then connected with Keaton McGregor for a touchdown evening the score at 8 to 8. The Raiders struck again when Barrett Brennan scored on a 5-yard touchdown to make it to 16 to 8 Portland at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started with a Portland fumble, but Grand Ledge couldn't take advantage. The Raiders struck back with another 5-yard touchdown from Brennan and extra point by Cameron O'Connor with just a few minutes left in the half. It was 23 to 8 at halftime and there was no further scoring in the game from there by either team, resulting in a Raider Freshman win. Defensive standouts for the game were Bryce Fullet, Evan gross and Keaton McGregor, who had an interception in the game. The Raider freshman look strong with a 4-1  record at mid season.
