Portland hosted their first quad of the year on Monday against Notre Dame Prep, Grant and Chesaning Union High. This was a battle of four teams who often qualify for the D4 state tournament. It was a pretty even contest all around and we all got a chance to see where our teams were at the beginning of the season. D4 boys tennis seems to be having a bit of a struggle finding players this year. Both Grant and Portland weren't able to field full teams and had to forfeit their 4 singles matches. However, our team stepped up and made up for those lost points. They finished in a very respectable 2nd place to Notre Dame. Portland had three flight champs and one runner up for the day. Cadin Cross won all three of his 1 singles matches to be the top player for the day. Ryan Leonard  also won all three of his 2 singles matches to win that flight. Jorgen Sonday and Casey Smith teamed up to win all three of their 1 doubles matches and their claim to top doubles team of the day. The team is excited to welcome two freshmen to our 2 doubles spot. Keegan Krieger and Damien Ledu partnered up to win 2 of 3 matches and take second in that flight. The team will play again Wednesday. We're hosting another quad with Almont, DeWitt, and Ludington.
