At the Mason Optimist Invitational Tournament, the Portland varsity boy’s golf team went up against eleven other teams from the greater Lansing area. Several of those teams are currently ranked in their respective divisions by the MIGCA. Ten of the twelve teams are division one or two golf teams. The Raiders (a division 3 team) stepped up to the challenge and scored their best tournament team score of the season. Playing on one of the more challenging courses in mid-Michigan, the Eldorado Golf Course in Mason, the Raiders shot a very competitive score of 348 to finished in fifth place. Williamston captured first place with an outstanding score of 315. Haslett took second with a 331 and by using a fifth score tie breaker, Dewitt was third over Mason both with 333’s.

CJ Miller and Isaac Honsowitz lead the Portland team scoring by shooting a pair of 84's. Carter Rosier put together a solid eighteen-hole round of 88. Luke Nobis rounded out the Portland scoring finishing with a 92.

Next up on the Raiders schedule is a dual match against county rival Lakewood on Tuesday, May 4 at Centennial Acres Golf Course.
