The Varsity Tennis team traveled to Grant on Saturday for the Grant Invitational Quad. Even though Portland was missing their #4 singles player, that didn't stop the team's determination to win the first place trophy. The team also knew they had to play hard to earn that trophy due to not having a #4 singles player on the roster for the quad. And they did! Dropping only two matches throughout the entire quad really shows the determination the team had to prove they were capable of ending the day with trophy in hand.

Portland medaled in all seven of the flights they played. Runners-up at 4 doubles were Olivia Morrow and Elizabeth Seavey. Runners-up at 2 doubles were Kara Kraczon and Bella Virk. Earning flight championships for Portland were 3 doubles Mya Collins and Xanthe Cross, 1 doubles Maura Lufkin and Corey Smith, 3 singles Adriana Krieger, 2 singles Alyssa Jack, and 1 singles Kayla Weller.

The week ahead brings three home matches against Williamston, Charlotte, and St. Johns) as well as Saturday's Spring Sports Carnival when we host some of the top teams in Division 4 girls tennis.
