After missing out on the 2020 boys high school golf season due to the COVID 19
pandemic, the varsity boy’s golf team opened up 2021 conference play yesterday
afternoon with a divisional jamboree played at Bonnie View Golf Course in Eaton
Rapids. The Raiders finished the day with 5 wins and 1 loss. A traditionally
strong Lansing Catholic golf program managed to escape with a five stroke
victory over Portland to take first place with a team score of 180. The Raiders
took second place with a team score of 185. Eaton Rapids’ score of 191 earned
third place. Ionia ended in fourth with a 214. A young and inexperienced
Charlotte team posted a team score of 222. Lansing Sexton finished with a team
score of 236
Scoring for the Raiders was: Isaac Honsowitz who shot an eight over par 44 and
CJ Miller shot a 45; Ethan Getchell finished a round of 46 and Luke Nobis and
Carter Rosier rounded out the Raider scoring with each shooting a 50.
The varsity will play in tomorrow’s Larry Judson Eighteen-Hole Scramble at
Glenbriar Golf Course in Perry. On Saturday, the Raiders will set their
sights on recapturing the Ionia County Shoot Out Title in an eighteen-hole
tournament to be played at Morrison Lake Golf Course.
