The varsity girls basketball team improved their record to 7-2 with a win over Ovid Elsie, 61-42. The Raiders jumped out to a 33-11 halftime lead as a result of some tenacious defense which led to some early transition offense. Shalyn Dziewiatkowski led the charge with several deflections, kicks and steals and Ashley Bower had 16 first half points on her way to a game high 25. Portland owned the boards all the night as Breckyn Werner finished the night with 10 rebounds and 6 points. Ava Guilford chipped in 11 points, while Ava Gruber had 5 points, and Alivia Densmore and Grace Clark both added 4 points.
The JV Girls basketball team got back in the win column last night with a 41-21 victory over Ovid-Elsie. Eight different Raider girls tallied points with Malia Thelen leading the way at 15. Alexa Weber pitched in with 9. Stella Durrant had 5, Jayden Townsend and Ella Gruber with 3 each and Bella Heath, Aubree Faulkner and Ally Logel all pitched in with 2 a piece. Next up is a home game tonight against Eaton Rapids.
