Portland Varsity Softball team went 1 and 2 Saturday at the Portland Invitational Tournament. In
the first game Portland defeated Central Montcalm 11 -1 in a run rule 5 inning shortened game.
Adrianna Novara picked up the win recording six strikeouts and spreading out 5 hits over 5
innings. Leading hitter for the game was Natalie Linebaugh who went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.
Emma Selden went 2 for 2 with a double and Adrianna Novara went 2 or 2. Sophie Novara
added a triple and Jada Walton had a double.
Portland dropped their second game to Petoskey by the score of 8 - 1. Jada Walton went 2 for 3
in the game and Emma Selden and Brooke Seal each had a hit.
In the final game of the day Grandville defeated the Portland 10 - 3. Despite the score the
Raiders defense was much improved only committing one error over six innings. The offense
was highlighted by Natalie Linebaugh going 2 for 3 and Emma Johnson’s 2 run home run. Her
3rd of the season. The Raiders are now 3 and 2 for the season and next play Tuesday and
Lansing Catholic.
