Individual Wrestling Results; Guilford First Ever Two-Time Champion

Six of Portland's wrestlers were among the top sixteen in each weight class to qualify in Division III State Individual Finals held at Ford Field this past weekend.

Freshman, Trent Treirweiler had a tough draw and lost to the eventual state champion and third place wrestler. Trent ended his season with a 39 -15 record.

Junior, Jared Thelen was one match away from placing in the top eight. In the blood round he lost when his opponent scored reversal in the last 8 seconds. Jared ended his season with a 32-21 record.

Senior, Zac Fedewa was one match away from placing in the top eight. Zac lost to the eventual 4th and 5th place wrestlers. Zac ended his season with a 39-12 record and his career with a 73-56 record.

Senior, Kyle Hinds was also one match away from placing in the top eight. His two losses came to the eventual 4th and 6th place wrestlers. Kyle ended his season with a 44-10 record and his career with a 110-31 record.

Freshman, Caiden Pelc wrestled his way to an all-state position placing 6th. He won two matches on his way to the semi finals and took his first loss to the eventual state champion and dropped into the consolations and lost the 4th and 5th place wrestlers. Caiden's season ended with a record of 42-13 record.

Senior, Owen Guilford for the first wrestler in Portland's history to win two individual state championships.  He dominated his weight class with a :39 second pin in the first round, a major decision in the second round, a major decision in the semi finals and in the finals he pinned his opponent in 2 minutes and 22 seconds.  Owen ended his season undefeated with a 48-0 record and a 158-21 career record.
