Girls Varsity Splits Again, JV Remains Undefeated

The Lady Raiders Girls Basketball team flew into Lakewood Monday night and attacked the Vikings.   The Ladies pecked away from the tip-off, building a double digit lead by the end of the 1st Quarter and holding it until the final buzzer.   There was no doubt on this night setting up a rematch in the 1st round of the District Playoffs in 1 week. Ashley Bower lead all scorers with 15 points, while Calley and Josie Goodman chipped in 8 and 6 points each.

Then, the Comets of Grand Ledge come soaring into town Tuesday night and flew straight into a fired-up Lady Raider Defense.   It was Senior Night and the Raiders jumped out to an early lead. Leslie Barker and Ashley Bower locked down the area’s leading holding her to 3 buckets in the 1st Half (1 being a desperation heave at the end of the 1st Quarter), while Breckyn Werner, Calley and Josie Goodman bottled up the 6’3” Comet center.

The Raiders held a lead until about 3 minutes to go in the 3rd Quarter, then the Raider offense stalled and Grand Ledge’s 2 college signees knocked down some shots grabbing the lead. The Comets held off the Raiders in the 4th for the win.   There was balanced scoring throughout the lineup with Ashley Bowers the lone Raider in double digits finishing with 15 points.

The JV Girls Basketball team used a 13-3 4th quarter to  improve their record  to 19-0 on the season with a 45-28 win over Grand Ledge. Alivia Densmore led the way with 14 points, Ava Guilford added 10 and Grace Clark 9. Brooke Seal hauled down 9 rebounds to go with her 4 points. The JV lady Raiders wrap up their season Thursday night as they travel to Lansing Eastern. Game time 5:30.
