The girl’s JV golf team completed C.A.A.C. White Divisional play, with an undefeated league record at yesterday’s final divisional jamboree of the season. Played at the Maple Brook Golf Course in Charlotte, the Raider victory extended the JV’s consecutive jamboree first place finishes to thirteen in-a-row over the last three seasons. The match was played as a seven-hole, par twenty-nine match using head to head scoring for each of the six player With no tie breaker available, Portland and Lansing Catholic each finished with 15 total team points. Charlotte scored 10.5 points and Ionia had 7 points.
Earning individual head to head points for Portland were: Hannah Schrauben shot a 44 and scored 3 points; Gina Sonday had a 45 and scored 4 points; Josie Goodman carded a 45 and got 1.5 points; Ashley Bower shot a 43 and earned 3 points; Lyndan Desgranges finished with 51 and 1 point and Autumn Shimer carded a 53 and 2.5 points.
The JV’s finish a very successful 2018 season with a 19 and 0 record in JV jamborees and dual matches. Out of three JV tournaments played, they finished with a 12 win, 6 loss and 1 tie record.
The varsity golf team ended the regular season in 3rd place in the CAAC white league behind Lansing Catholic and Charlotte. Low scorer for the team was Hannah Schafer with a 49 followed by Macey Schrauben with a 51 and Brooke Seal with a 53. The team competes in the league tournament next week Thursday at Willow Wood in hopes of taking over 2nd place.
